Catch Phrases: "Trust me, you'll *love* it!" & "I can get it for you wholesale." Milo Mills is a merchant, a huckster, and maybe a bit of a con man. He is the son of a used air/raft salesman, and this apple didn't fall far from its tree. At 18 Milo ran away from home to join the Marines. Luckily, for him, he stopped in at a Starport tavern for a quick shot of liquid courage. Milo never made it to the recruiting office. While in the bar Milo picked up, or perhaps it would be fairer to say *he* was 'picked up', by the merchant aboard the free trader /Fancypants/. Daria Spencer was 25 and shouldn't have been dallying with an 18 year old drinking on a forged id, but she was bored, he was cute, and she "saw something in him." One wild weekend later Milo woke up in Daria's bed, aboard the /Fancypants/, in jumpspace, a signed contract in the ship's safe, an apprentice with a four year contract..."that was *some* weekend!" The Marines' loss was the...um, hum, maybe it's better not to go down *that* road. Anyway, that was over 20 years and many, many worlds ago. After four years, Milo left Daria and the /Fancypants/ behind, moving on from one thing to another, almost always working aboard free traders. He learned the Business Game, and he learned it well. Over the years he made a few fortunes for himself and a few more for his Captains. Well, yeah, it's true, he lost most of them right back again, but such *is* the life of a Master Merchant...just ask Milo he'll tell you so. He'll also tell you that when he makes his next fortune *you* could share in it, but only if you invest today. While it's true that Milo is always on the make for the next deal it isn't true he'd sell his mother for the right price. Well he *probably* wouldn't...um, unless it was a *very* good deal. Milo is gregarious and outgoing, a little bit of a wind-bag, but a charming windbag who really *is* good at his vocation. He likes to gamble, but he hates to lose. Milo has mixed with the high and the low, all things considered he prefers the high as they have more money and aren't any harder to separate from it...and their whiskey is better, too! He doesn't really care for laws or lawyers, bureaucrats or red tape, as they just get in the way of "the deal", but he can deal with them when he has to. Maybe that's why he carries an auto pistol in the holster under his coat? Nah! Not Milo! Right now Milo is 'looking for the next big thing'. He says, "Find the next big thing, get in on the bottom stage and ride that rocket right into orbit!" He has a little jingle in his pockets that he considers seed money. Milo has learned the hard way that the smart boyo always tries to preserve his own capital and speculate with other people's money, "Trust me you'll make a fortune! You'll hate yourself if you miss this, once in a lifetime, opportunity!", so he's looking for investors. Milo's big problem is, all too often, he believes his own spiel. |
