Madeline, or Maddy, is a cop's daughter. Her parents divorced when she was eight, and her mother has not been in contact for years. Her father, David Kent, was disabled six years ago due to head and spinal injuries sustained in the line of duty while on a call in Old Port.

Since then, she's been taking care of him, mostly on her own. His condition demands constant attention and she doesn't dare leave him alone. The pension is never enough to cover all the expenses (if you want decent care for the person) particularly on Regina. And with the high cost of all things medical in the Neutral Zone period...

Maddy is trying to pay off debts, trying to keep the creditors off her back. But it's hard to find any kind of work on Regina currently. Most of the money she makes goes for a tiny old apartment on UpPort, anything left for food and such. She's been able to earn some money singing, off and on. Working means maybe something for the kitchen. She takes whatever work she can get that fits in with her role as primary caregiver.

She grew up around pubs and bars, mostly owned by ex-cops. Safe enough places, especially when her father was working odd shifts and she was alone as an adolescent. That's where she started performing, and where she developed her taste for a particular style (think 'Since I Fell for You', or 'Cry Me a River'). She's not interested in fame and fortune - on stage, it's different. She's different. For the last few years it's been more of an escape than she'd be likely to admit.
